Grupo Olarra has created the perfect reserva that is a wonderful representation of a good La Rioja wine. Made from grapes harvested from small-producing vineyards, the wine presents many wonderful characteristics. It has been aged for 20 months in-bottle and is a blend of Tempranillo and Mazuelo.
The Mayor de Ondarre is a rather well-balanced wine. Full bodied and robust, it promotes a good balance between acidity, tannins, and sweetness. To the eye: a beautifully deep cherry red with a hint of purple. On the nose: a lovely bouquet of dark, red fruits and spices, such as tobacco and chocolate. On the palate: Long strokes of plum, cherry, and blackberry with a pleasant oakiness to it.
This wine is most definitely the perfect partner to grilled meats. If you’re firing up the grill anytime soon, this wine is a definite must-have! It also pairs perfectly with cheese and meat boards, as well.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
